Five ways to arrive at your next interview feeling ready

20 July 2026 · Equation Recruitment

First, research the company like a customer would. Read their website, find them on social media and understand what they sell and who they sell it to. You do not need to memorise their history. You need one or two genuine observations that show you were interested enough to look.

Second, reread the job advert the night before and match yourself to it. For each requirement, have one real example ready from your work history. Specific beats general every time. A story about the day you fixed a problem lands better than a claim that you are a problem solver.

Third, prepare your own questions. Asking about training, the team you would join or what a typical week looks like signals that you are picturing yourself in the role. It also helps you judge whether the job is right for you, which matters just as much.

Fourth, plan the practical details. Know the journey, the parking and who to ask for, and aim to arrive ten minutes early. Walking in unhurried does more for your confidence than any last minute revision.

Fifth, talk to your consultant. When Equation puts you forward we brief you on the company, the manager and what they are really looking for, because we know them personally. That is the advantage of interviewing through people who have placed there before. Browse our live roles or send us your CV and let us do the groundwork with you.

Whether you are hiring or looking for your next role, a conversation costs nothing. Call us on 01869 323 444 and talk to a consultant who knows your market.
